In 2008, Hamilton County, along with 18 other Indiana counties, failed to meet EPA health-based outdoor air quality standards for tiny soot particles that can cause respiratory distress in children and the elderly including aggravation of lung disease, asthma attacks and heart problems. In 2007, Forbe's magazine ranked each state in six equally weighted categories: carbon footprint, air quality, water quality, hazardous waste management, policy initiatives and energy consumption. Indiana earned the dubious distinction of being the 49th greenest state in America. This did not happen by accident. Indiana has consistently passed "anti-green" legislation which has had an adverse affect on our quality of life polluting our water, air and soil. Pleaes check back for updates on policies

CONSERVATION DAY AT THE STATEHOUSE

9 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
This annual event is hosted by the Indiana Conservation Alliance (INCA), a state-wide network of nonprofit organizations that provide a unified voice for the conservation and wise use of our natural resources to enhance our quality of life. Meet other environmentally-minded citizens and learn about INCA legislative priorities. Share your thoughts with your state legislators.

8:30 am – 8:50 am - Registration (IN Gov’t Center South – Conference Room A)
9:00 am – 11:00 am - Presentation on INCA 2013 Legislative Priorities (IN Gov’t Center South – Conference Room A). Hear about INCA’s legislative priorities, receive talking points and ask questions.
11:30 am – 1:30 pm – Award Ceremony and Refreshments (IN Statehouse – North Atrium). Legislator of the Year announced and light lunch refreshments provided.

This annual event is hosted by the Hamilton County Business Issues Committee, which represents all six Hamilton County Chambers - Carmel , Fishers, Hamilton North, Noblesville, Sheridan and Westfield.
